Description
From 1 August 2023, the law on the fight against waste and the circular economy, enacted on 10 February 2020, will put an end to the automatic printing of till receipts. This measure aims to achieve two key objectives:
Please note: as a professional, you are not obliged to explicitly ask customers whether or not they would like a ticket. It is up to the consumer to express their request by actively asking for it.
By law, retailers are obliged to remind consumers that they can obtain a paper ticket if they wish. To comply with this obligation, the retailer must inform customers of their right to receive a printed receipt, for example by displaying this information in a visible and comprehensible manner at the checkout.
- firstly, to reduce paper consumption, which generates billions of printed till receipts and bank card slips every year ;
- secondly, to limit people's exposure to the substances that are harmful to health and which are present on the majority of printed receipts.
