    Provisions to be observed for a table d'hôtes (guest table)

    Scope of application

    Any bed and breakfast operator offering meals only to the occupants of the bed and breakfast.

    Description

    The following cumulative conditions must be met to qualify as a table d'hôte (guest table) :
    • constitute a complement to the accommodation activity;
    • offer a single menu (without the possibility of choosing starters, main courses or desserts) and a cuisine composed of local ingredients;
    • offer a capacity limited to that of the accommodation (five rooms / 15 people for guest houses);
    • serve the meal at the family table (it is therefore not possible to have several tables in a room reserved for this purpose)
    If any of the above criteria are not met, the table d'hôte becomes a restaurant, subject to specific obligations.

    In addition, the table d'hôte must also comply with the following provisions:
    • Informing the consumer about the prices charged (e.g. whether drinks are included or not)
    • Compliance with the rules of hygiene and food safety (drinking water supply, hygiene of surfaces and utensils, sanitary facilities for staff, etc.)
