Urgent correction of food hygiene and health rules
Scope of application
Any establishment in the food chain that has been given a hygiene level of "requires improvement".
Description
The publication of the results of official health controls is part of a trend towards greater transparency of administrative action in general and of control services in particular. It is a legitimate expectation of citizens and helps to restore confidence in the food sector.
The aim is to make public the results of official food safety controls carried out in all establishments in the food chain: slaughterhouses, retail outlets (food shops, restaurants, supermarkets, markets, farm sales, etc.), collective restaurants and food processing establishments.
For any establishment in the food chain that has received a hygiene level "to be improved" following an official health inspection, the operator is required to take corrective measures (work, cleaning, training) within a period set by the administrative authority (maximum 3 months).
The administration requests corrective measures to be carried out within a constrained timeframe adapted to the requirements (from the same day to several months after the date of the inspection, if major work is necessary for example). If the risk to health is proven and immediate, the administration requires the emergency closure of the establishment until it is brought back into compliance. The services of the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations systematically carry out a new inspection at the end of the period given to the operator to ensure that the anomalies have been corrected.
